ReTain (amino ethoxyvinylglycine, AVG)

ReTain works as an ethylene biosynthesis inhibitor to delay the ripening of apples and associated preharvest fruit drop. It can also retard the loss of firmness, loss of starch, increase in soluble solids, and development of watercore and red color. It may indirectly increase the red color on fruit by allowing the fruit to remain on the tree longer for additional color development to a period when cooler. See Part I for more information on ReTain.
