Confirm mimics the action of the natural insect hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone, the physiological inducer of the molting and metamorphosis process in insects. The product is highly active against lepidopterous larvae. When ingested by the larvae, Confirm induces a premature lethal molt that will lead to larval death. Actual death of the larvae will take several days to occur, although feeding by the larvae will stop within 24 hours of ingestion. Confirm is very safe to beneficial insects, Stethorus, and predatory mites. Confirm is registered for use on apples and pears. It is very effective in control of all leafroller species, especially tufted apple bud moth. Under heavy pressure, its activity against internal fruit feeders is low. For control of high internal fruit worm populations, it is recommended that Confirm be used in conjunction with a broad-spectrum insecticide.
To be effective, Confirm must be ingested by the target larvae. For internal fruit feeders, apply before surface feeding occurs. For foliar-feeding larvae, apply before or during larval feeding. It is important to remember that uniform and through coverage will enhance the pesticide effectiveness against larvae. Please refer to the pesticide label for the recommended application rate and timing.
