Centaur (buprofezin)
The active ingredient in Centaur belongs to a group of insect growth regulators and is effective against the nymph stages of scales and immature stages of other molting insects by inhibiting chitin biosynthesis. Buprofezin also suppresses oviposition of adults and reduces viability of eggs. Excellent coverage is essential for effective pest control. Centaur is registered for the control of scales and leafhoppers on apples (one application per season), scales and pear psylla on pears (up to two applications), and scales on peaches (two applications per season). For the best control of scales the application should be made at the peak crawler emergence. Centaur should not be applied within 14 days of harvest.
